Think about the last time you ate an avocado. Did you throw away the seed? Of course you did! Unless you have plans for starting an orchard or preserving your guacamole, you likely have had little use for the seed. But WAIT. We found this video from Nourish Me Whole blogger Sophie about how to EAT an avocado seed. Say what?

Sophie did a bit of research, and found on health blogs like Livestrong and Daily Superfood Love that avocado pits are chock-full of antioxidants and soluble fiber. She says these miraculous seeds can “regulate intestinal function, increase collagen in skin, and keep hair shiny.”

When baked and blended up, you can create a powdery nutritional addition to blend into your smoothie. This also means less food waste. So what do you think? Will you eat the avocado seed, or stick to the creamy green part of the fruit?
