In typical Nike fashion, activewear will be getting a seriously elevated makeover — with a runway edge — this Summer. The fitness apparel giant teamed up with Givenchy‘s Creative Director Riccardo Tisci once again to deliver two strikingly beautiful collections, which were announced today.
Leave it to Nike — the brand that just released self-lacing shoes — to make all your sportswear dreams a reality. NikeLab x RT will combine the archetypically elegant designs of the Italian fashion label with technical sport sensibility and performance-quality materials. Using staple Nike technologies like Dri-FIT and Flyknit, the collections were designed to feel as incredible as they look. Tisci noted that this was no easy feat, saying it was “a bit of a difficult process because to make something that is very dynamic, to do sport and to do activity, and make it strongly recognizable — a fashion statement — is not easy.”
The two collections are said to have “strikingly different aesthetics,” with one featuring a black and white color palette, and the other a “unique juxtaposition of floral and kaleidoscope prints.” Merging the worlds of Nike and Givenchy, the prints incorporate flora from Oregon, Taranto, Italy (Tisci’s home), and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in honor of the 2016 Summer Olympics.
